I came… I saw… and I conquered the mountain! lol, hey, it’s a mountain in Texas anyways… Special thanks to VK1AD for the inspiration to get going with SOTA (I can only hope to keep up, please checkout his site – lots of great adventures!), N5CFB for the kick-ass gear, all the N5OAK folks, and everyone that worked me:

N0AIE – N5MDB – K4WLG – KE5AST – AA4DM – W1AW – KI7MUS – N8KIM – NS4J – K4SQL – AK7RM – KG8P – N5CFB – W8MSL – W4LID – K1PPO/AG – W0ZZG – WA2OGN – W6RO – KG5GYM – K9ECF – AE7LT – AE7GP

20 meters was definitely the sweet spot today – but the band was tough. Even the HF charts indicated so, but I persisted! Lots of static crashes and crazy QRM, so thanks to everyone who worked me out of the noise, I know it was tough at times and some folks were very patient. What a cool & unique first experience!

  1. Congratulations on finding a suitable SOTA location. Having recently moved here from Northern Alaska everything looks flat around here. 73 KL1HB
