maker faire

Come one, come all, to the 2017 Maker Faire in the heartland of Texas! Recently the ARRL President, Mr. Tom Gallagher encouraged hams to attend this event-

“Gallagher suggests radio amateurs consider attending Maker Faires — not only to promote and give a presence to Amateur Radio but to learn what they have in common with makers, many of whom already are licensees.”

I’ve never attended a Maker Faire before, so figured why not volunteer for the event! (comes with a free tshirt!) I’m interested in all things creative technology! I may even bring a radio with me and setup a rapid deployment station in the parking lot and try to get some on-lookers! I figured this would be a fantastic opportunity to be able to meet new folks that share similar interests, & maybe promote amateur radio in the process!

Here’s the website to the event if you’re interested, it’s being held at the Palmer Events Center May 13 & 14, 2017. So share the word – if you’re in Central Texas – and around for the event, stop on by! Hope to see you there!

  1. We’ll try to get this posted on the webpage to help get the word out, try to see you at the fair.
